NLB

I did the stupidest thing ever today! I think no more National Libraries for me. Stress, man!

I had wanted to return the 2 books on the left - “Song of Kali” & “Salt & Saffron”. They were like 3 days overdued and I hardly read them. Well, I did read the “Song of Kali” but didn’t really liked the story so stopped halfway.

With much fatigue, I went to the National Library Tampines Branch to return them. Usually, one would only need to drop the books into the “Book Drop” that resembles a pigeon-hole. Well, since my books are overdued and I gotta pay the penalties, I went to the reception instead.

Instead of processing my returns, the librarian told me that I would still need to return the overdued books via the “Book Drop” AND then, pay my fines via another machine. Well, so much for help. So, obligingly, I went to the “pigeon-hole”, pushed in the 1st book. Hmmm, no sign of ackowledgement from the machine. Nevermind, continued with the 2nd one and the “Returned” sign lit up! Finally, some response. *sigh*

Then, being an abiding citizen, I went to the said machine to pay up. But then again, the records reflect that I’m still holding on to the “Salt & Saffron”! This really baffled me. So once again, I went to queue up at the reception, told the librarian what happened - the machine sign did not light up and payment stuff. The librarian went to the machine, had me demonstrated the whole procedure again, and then convinced that I’m not that retard after all before taking down the details of the book. She then went into another office where I can hear conversations on the book search. This was really getting on my nerves. She went in, came out a few times and then finally got me to fill up some form and told me to wait for their call within the next 1 week.

Being tired and hungry, I left the library feeling frustrated. Just as I got on the bus, I realised one thing that might just reveal the mystery about the “Returned” sign. I did not return a library book! I pushed in the book that Pak Kiong lent me!

As every library book will be tagged with a barcode, it will be scanned upon each return and that’s when the sign will light up! The machine must have not been able to detect a barcode on that book ‘cuz that was simply not a library book, and that’s why the sign was not lit!

How stupid can I get!

Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

Shucks! Now I gotta go there on to return the REAL “Salt & Saffron” (which I found on my table by the way) and inform the librarian on the find. But can only do so on Friday…

As for Pak Kiong, I think I’ll try to check if the library has any “Lost & Found Corner”… I feel so bad… Can’t believe it. I’m so stupid.

It Doesn’t Take Much To Make Me Smile! :)

Hehehe… For those of you who tipped me off on “Bah-Bee-Qew” from Jun 25th till now, I got yr hint… Let’s just say I’ve been having some stagnant weeks where there were nothing SpEcTaCuLaR to post mah… Oh well, nothing interesting but spurts of touching moments… BLUSH3.GIF

Take for example, last last Saturday I received a special “present” from Pak Kiong and Priscillia Ho from the Airfreight Ops Division @ Mezzanine floor! They actually took the time and effort to organize a small “Table Warming” session for me! That’s in “celebration” to my shift to the 3rd level they said. So sweet of them! This is one of the nicest thing that anyone has done for me in a long, long time… Though it was just some wafer cubes biscuits, Peel Fresh fruit juice and Chocolate Milk, I was really touched. I had always thought that since good friends like Tricia, Luke and Nicole left, there may not be any one left who would pull such sweet innovative stunts. BigSmile2

Steph, too bad you weren’t working that Saturday. It was such a peaceful Saturday. There were only Pak Kiong, Pris, Charmaine and Me and we were talking as if it was some Killiney Kopitiam! LOL We had a “mini party” there at my “new place”.

Today is one of those few occasions that I finally saw Benson leaving office earlier than I do! Hahaha… He and Seng Guan popped by to say byes before they left for home. Think Seng Guan, Pak Kiong and me were all kinda in an edgy mood (at least for me). There were just so many things crashing in at the same time. I felt so suffocated. Think Pak Kiong caught me at a bad time. We had some quite high-strung discussions / reasonings on ERC budget. But at least, things were settled amicably. I’m glad no friendship was hurt. spineyes

At the end of the day, just when I felt so heavy-hearted that I was gonna break down, Pak Kiong popped by. I had just finished some last minute deadline stuff. So we decided to head home together. Oh ok… Well, if it’s of any interests to you, we saw Lena outside the canteen, together with Suhaime, Ken, Kong… Apparently, Lena’s got a flat tyre (again). Yup, this is like the second incident in like say, 3 months? Well, none of the guys can help ‘cuz there were no tools fit for the bolts and screws of the tyre it seems. bigeyes My guess would be they were either waiting for help or the tow truck.

Anyway, Pak Kiong and me managed to catch the T2 bus midway to the bus stop. Then went for a drink at Burger King. We talked about lotsa stuff, but mostly work and the current management gossips. LOL

People has always said that it’s very difficult to have a platonic relationship between a guy and a gal. But I guess I’m so much luckier. I had one good guy fren whom I always “eat around” with. We would go many places and try out all kinds of food during Poly days. Then, I made a good buddy out of Brother Luke too. And now, Pak Kiong too! Should I say it’s now 3 and counting?? LOL

For those of you who don’t think that Pak Kiong is for real, think about it the other way. What would you have me see you as, if I believe in other’s comments about you? He’s a very simple person. At least that’s how I would like to see him, until proven otherwise. pic05996

Hmmm, if there was ever a previous life, I really wondered what good have I done to deserve such good friends around me this life! BigSmile2
