Cirque du Soleil - Quidam

I want to watch this!

09 Sep - 02 Oct

<Link>

QUIDAM

Quidam: a nameless passer-by, a solitary figure lingering on a street corner, a person rushing past. It could be anyone, anybody. Someone coming, going, living in our anonymous society. A member of the crowd, one of the silent majority. The one who cries out, sings and dreams within us all. This is the “quidam” that Cirque du Soleil is celebrating.

A young girl fumes; she has already seen everything there is to see, and her world has lost all meaning. Her anger shatters her little world, and she finds herself in the universe of Quidam. She is joined by a joyful companion as well as another character, more mysterious, who will attempt to seduce her with the marvelous, the unsettling, and the terrifying.

Character - Quidam
The Quidam may have stepped out of a surrealist painting or been conjured up out of Zoé’s imagination. He is anonymous-he is everyone, and, at the same time, he is no one.

Never Gonna Leave Your Side

~ Daniel Bedingfield ~

I feel like a song without the words
A man without a soul
A bird without its wings
A heart without a home
I feel like a knight without a sword
The sky without the sun
cos you are the one

I feel like a ship beneath the waves
A child who’s lost its way
A door without a key
A face without a name
I feel like a breath without the air
And every day’s the same
since you’ve gone away

I gotta have a reason to wake up in the morning
You used to be the one that put a smile on my face
There are no words that could describe how I miss you
and I miss you everyday
yeah

and I’m never gonna leave your side
and I’m never gonna leave your side again
still holding on girl
I won’t let you go
cos when I’m lying in your arms
I know I’m home

They tell me that a man can lose his mind
Living in the pain
Recalling times gone by
And crying in the rain
You know I’ve wasted half the time
And I’m on my knees again
’till you come to me
yeah

I gotta have a reason to wake up in the morning
You used to be the one that put a smile on my face
There are no words that could describe how I miss you
and I miss you everyday
yeah

and I’m never gonna leave your side
and I’m never gonna leave your side again
still holding on girl
I won’t let you go
I lay my head against your heart
I know I’m home
I know I’m home
I know I’m home

and I’m never gonna leave your side
and I’m never gonna leave your side again
still holding on girl
I won’t let you go
cos when I’m lying in your arms
I know I’m home

Yakkety Yak… Yakkety Yak…

Allo Allo! BigSmile2 Sorry Folks! Haven’t been getting much time to update my blog lately.

I’ve got so much to say! pic05996So much things have happened! 1st thing 1st… Charmaine has given birth!  Baby Adelynne Chia was borned on 14 Aug, Sunday @ 2245hrs! Yup, Caryl, Anne and me paid her a visit the next day at KK hospital after work… Baby Adelynne is so cute! Charmaine will be staying at her mom’s place to recuperate… BUT! Poor Me! I gotta suffer for 2 months from immediate effect! Charmaine, what am I to do without you!? Hmmm… Wa lau… The trend now is baby booming is it ah? Seems like everyone is giving birth!!! laughroll

Wa… Following that, Barry’s baby came today!!! Wow wow… What a double strike! Looks like it’s really baby booming period! Baby boom? Baby Bloom? Boom? Bloom? Argh…. L-O-L

Sad to say, today is also Shawn’s last day with us… He joined our competitor - ”Fed-Up”! LOL But before he left, he sent us something which I felt was kinda interesting…

Manager vs. Leader spineyes

The manager administers; the leader innovates

The manager is a copy; the leader is an original

The manager maintains; the leader develops

The manager focuses on systems and structure; the leader focuses on people

The manager relies on control; the leader inspires trust

The manager has a short-range view; the leader has a long-range perspective

The managers asks how and when; the leader asks what and why

Managers have their eyes on the bottom line; leaders have their eyes on the horizon

The manager imitates; the leader originates

The manager accepts the status quo; the leader challenges it

The manager is the classic good soldier; the leader is his own person

The manager does things right; the leader does the right thing

– Warren Bennis

So which type are you? As for me? I’m just like Mickey Mouse!

“Mickey is a NATURAL LEADER“! laughroll

Today, Kerwin, Jimmy, Kek Kheong and Shawn came down to Tampines and joined us for badminton too! So happy! Finally we see some Seafreight contenders! These folks are going to take part in the internal badminton selection for NTUC Open this coming Saturday! Cool huh? spineyes

Speaking of that, I woke up at 3am to make it to the first in queue for Badminton court reservation for this internal selection!  Together with Coach Hassan and his 3 children, we reached the sports hall at 4am! Then came Coach Hassan’s other students - Saleh and Hafiz at around 6am. Wa lau… It was really creepy to walk through the park at that hour of the early morning! There were like, 3 to 4 “blindspots” where people can simply hide and spring on you when you least expected. Anyway, we finally managed to book the courts we need for Saturday’s activity. Otherwise, how am I going to answer to those participants!smiley phew

Another news blast: Our BD Management Support Team babe, Melissa gave me her resignation letter yesterday! Wa lau… Now I’m gonna be down with one less headcount! Really didn’t know what to say, man. Is there something wrong with me? Guess I’m really lousy in managing the team. I was kind of saddened by the news actually. Though she said she wanted to pursue a career more focused on marketing, and that we seldom get to talk much, but somehow, I just felt sad… Another Management Trainee resigned! And it’s under my charge that it happened!

Five Stars Arising!!!

Hmmm… Does anyone remember this song besides our “Count on me Singapore”, “Stand up for Singapore”, “We are Singapore”??? musical_notes_bubbling_sm_nwm

There are five stars arising…. Out of the stormy sea… la la la la…. pic05996

It’s National Day! What could be different this year? Got! They moved the celebration into the neighbourhood! Here’s what was “live” from Tampines! spineyes

I woke up especially early on the special day too! Evidence? Nah! Give you! LOL

Oh yes… Since the public holiday fell on a Tuesday, I took the day off on Monday! Long holiday! Woo hoo! Oh! For the first time, I joined Coach Hassan at Tampines Sports Hall in the wee hours of the morning to “line up” for badminton courts booking! Let’s see… I think it was something like 5.30am when I reached! And there were already like 7-8 pax there! Wow wow… And the best part is… The booking office doesn’t open until 7 am! bigeyes smiley phew

Anyway, we only managed to book 4 courts with an hour each for the coming Wednesday. Haiz… By the time we’re done, it was 7.30am. I went home in anticipation of the new event on the list - Jeslyn’s Baby Full-month celebration! BigSmile2   Kristen Ong Ning Xuan. Isn’t she adorable?

Eeks! bigeyes Look what I discovered on my walk home from the Sports Hall! A dangling wormy! Eh? Wait a minute! Am I at Manchester United or Liverpool territory? L-O-L Orh… The Community Centre at my area organized this “Walkathon”! Wow wow… But that’s not all. Check out how they have decorated the place! pic05996

Speaking of Jeslyn, she invited Adelyn, Lynn, Tricia and myself to her house for the celebration. Wow… Her family is so so big! So many folks there! bigeyes

Anyway, we were discussing of the long-awaited graduation ceremony in September. Initially, we all agreed to attend together. But then… we heard of Lynn collecting her cert already… And now it’s Adelyn and Jeslynn not attending the ceremony as well! Adelyn said it’s “not necessary” and Jeslyn… Erhm, she fears that the whole hall will be occupied by the Chia Family! laughroll Haiz… So it’s just me… As for Tricia, well, she needs to do another semester for the most hardcore subject - “Strategic Analysis and Decision Making”. I hope Mum can see me on stage wearing the full academic dress while receiving the cert. LOL

All thanks to Steph. She called me and told me that there’s gonna be fireworks at the National Day celebration in Tampines. Else, I would hv missed it. Well, since I have nothing on I decided to go there and check it out.

There was the carnival, with live telecast from the Padang. LOL Quite a sacrifice leh! Cuz I got my feet into the mud and there goes my white sandals! *Heart Pain* ah!

Left to Right

1st Row: Nice Clouds Huh? What’s that white strip across the sky? It’s a bird, it’s a plane. No! It’s 3 combat jets!

2nd Row: The party starts here! That’s the big TV! Check out the crowd!

Last Row: Manchester United playing against Liverpool? Fireworks at close proximity! Zoom out and see! L-O-L

Just when I was on my way out of the crowd, look! Mermaid of sand!

Everytime I Close My Eyes…

Babyface (Featuring Mariah Carey)

Girl it’s been a long, long time comin’, yes it has

But I, I know that it’s been worth the wait
It feels like springtime in winter
It feels like Christmas in June
It feels like heaven has opened up it’s gates for me and you

Every time I close my eyes
I thank the lord that I’ve got you
And you’ve got me too
And every time I think of it
I pinch myself cuz I don’t believe it’s true
That someone like you loves me too

Girl I think that you’re truly somethin’, yes you are
And you’re, you’re every bit of a dream come true, yes you are
With you baby, it never rains
And it’s no wonder
The sun always shines when I’m near you
It’s just blessing that I have found somebody like you
Ooh Oh

Every time I close my eyes
I thank the lord that I’ve got you
And you’ve got me too
And every time I think of it
I pinch myself cuz I don’t believe it’s true
That someone like you loves me too

To think of all the nights I’ve cried myself to sleep
You really oughta know how much you mean to me
It’s only right, it’s only right
(In my life) that you be in my life right here with me
Oh baby, baby, yeah

(-Kenny G. Saxophone solo-)

I’ll tell you girl that…

Every time I close my eyes
I thank the lord that I’ve got you
And you’ve got me too
And every time I think of it
I pinch myself cuz I don’t believe it’s true
That someone like you loves me too

Loves me too

There Can Only Be One.

Went to the doctor yesterday. He told me there could only be one. bigeyes

Doc Ryan Thian: How long has it been?

Fer: Since last week? Or maybe the week before?

Doc Ryan Thian: Why only now then you come and see me?

Fer: I thought it would be ok shortly. ‘Cuz I never had it so long and so drastic like this time. spineyes

Doc Ryan Thian: Can you cut your hair short?

Fer: Huh? No lah… I don’t think so…

Doc Ryan Thian: Why not? How about tying your hair up?

Fer: Ok. spineyes

Doc Ryan Thian: Have you been doing or eating anything out of the norm recently?

Fer: Regular exercise… Weekly Badminton sessions… A few meals at Buffet Restaurants… That’s about it, I guess.

Doc Ryan Thian: Badminton? You don’t look like one that likes to exercise leh! LOL Hmmm…. Can you don’t play Badminton?

Fer: Har!? bigeyes No, of cuz not leh!

Doc Ryan Thian: Why? Are you a National Player??? bigeyes

Fer: Ah??? No lah! L-O-L I’m not National Player… I liked the games and it helps to release my stress at work.

Doc Ryan Thian: Really?? HAI! It’s best to keep away from anything that will aggravate your condition. After all, you do know that this rash thingy is gonna be with you forever rite? Your choice lor… Badminton or your skin lor! pic05996

I hate it when I have relapses of rashes.

What are you thinking about ah???
